Pineapple buns, also called Bolo Baos, are a classic pastry found in dim sum restaurants and Hong Kong-style bakeries. These soft milk bread buns are baked with a crispy crackling cookie on top and filled with a vanilla custard. Contrary to the name, pineapple buns contain no actual pineapple, but get its name from how the cookie crumble topping looks after baking.
